Salvete Visitatores

Greetings, vistors!

With this site we mean to show you
an image of the future of our Roman/Batavian past, taking shape in an appealing theme park.

Our base philosophy is “learning by experiencing and doing”, aimed at all age groups. We wish to achieve this by creating an environment which tells the tale of life on the Limes as it was in the first and second century of this era. A tale of peoples working and living together, of shifting boundaries, new concepts, trade and conflict along the Dutch part of the Roman border. A boundary which ran the width of the present day Netherlands, from Lobith to Leiden.

Our aim is to create an educational archaeological theme park, telling this tale in a exiting way. Those that pass through the gates of the park enter into a world as it was. The landscape, the smells, images and sounds create a powerful experience. The buildings and the people of the park that live and work in them, be they soldier or civilian, Roman or Batavian, not only show the world that was, but invite you to join them.

We wish you a pleasant stay!

Salvete et Valete!

(greetings and fare well!)
