The initiator of Noviolocus, the Archeological Themepark Limes Foundation (ATLF), have entered into a partnership with the Nijmegen based Chariovalda Foundation. The plans and goals of both foundations had a significant overlap where the creation of a living history park was involved. The plans were sufficiently complementary to merge them into a single plan. ATLF will act as a contact, as she had undertaken the feasibility study. We are very happy we able to join forces! At this moment we are hard at work finding a suitable site in the area around Nijmegen.
Unfortunately the municipality of Nijmegen has not seen fit to provide cooperation with the situating the park in the envisioned Landscapezone, preferring large scale leisure and housing, in short, things that rake in more cash. Of course the support of institutions and politicians is vital, although a structural financial support by the municipality is not asked for or needed.
At this moment in time we are raising funds to start the reconstruction study of the small vexillatio fort. Basically, the design is done, but the fort’s roof construction still poses a puzzle and needs scientific input. So please feel free to contact us about a small donation and support the return of the Romans to the Nijmegen area. Businesses that become sponsor will of course be shown privilege when the time comes to build the park.
