Archaeology
Experimental archaeology is also part of the educational program learning by doing. In the field of experimental archaeology there are many possibilities. The aim of the park is to also become a platform for experiments. Preferably these are to be conducted in view of the public during opening hours, providing they approximately fit the timeline/ the story of the park. Preferably, the experiments are combined with our theme weeks. Should experiments not fit the timeline/story, they will still be facilitated, but in a secluded area. The foundation strives to support experiments either financially or in kind out of the commercial income of the park.
The park itself will build a dock with a small shipyard, where we can build and maintain the ships of the park. Then there is the reconstruction of an authentically fired bathhouse. We also strive to experiment with the building methods of Iron Age houses. The introduction of features such as shuttered windows, their influence on construction, use and the monitoring of the internal climate during summer and winter being one of them.

Visit HOME for nice Iron Age constructions or the VAEE for info on archaeological experiments and education.
